INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENTS (20%)

Instruction for assignment submissions
Failure to follow the instructions will result in a loss of marks per item.
You will turn in your assignment on A4 paper, following the instructions below.
Submission in paper are due at the beginning of class on the day the assignment is due.

Papers Submission

  • Your paper submission will be organized as follows: A cover sheet on top with J5800, the assignment number, your name, and your matrix number. Order your papers in the order of the questions/problems given.
  • You'll include all questions/problems given in the assignment.
  • Comb binding all your printouts as a single submission. All pages must be in COLOUR.
  • Note that from now onward copied assignments will be rejected outright and zero (0) mark will be given
  • Show the complete process to solve the question; otherwise you will not get full marks.
  • If you write only the answer without any process, the question will not be taken as solved properly.

Marking Scheme for Assignment

In an attempt to simplify and make more consistent the marking of the various assignments, they will all be marked on a grid scale of  0 to 5, with 0 being a fail and 5 being outstanding. The required translation to a numeric mark from that scheme is also listed below. The marking scheme will follow the outline below:

Score
Criteria
5    = 97- 100%
4.5 = 92%
The assignment not only answers all questions and addresses all topics but shows depth of understanding and/or additional insights. References are appropriate and included.
4    = 87%
3.5 = 82%
The assignment is accurate on its surface and all questions/topics are answered or addressed. References are appropriate and included. Or, it is of score 5 quality but references are not included or are not accurately displayed
3    = 77%
2.5 = 72%
The assignment has one or more inaccuracies or something is missing. However, the references used are appropriate and included. Or, report is of score 4 quality but references are not included or are not accurately displayed
2    = 67
1.5 = 62%
The assignment is incomplete or inaccurate. One or more questions or topics is missed or incorrectly answered. Or the report is of score 3 quality but references are not included or are not accurately displayed
1    = 57%
0.5 = 50%
The assignment shows a lack of effort and is of inferior quality. Topics are missing, incorrectly answered, or addressed superficially. Or, it is of score 2 quality but there are missing or inaccurately displayed references. Or, it is of scores 5, 4, 3, or 2, quality but is sloppy, unreadable, and gives little evidence of a serious effort  for the assignment.
0 = 30% The assignment is of very poor quality. Topics are missing, or it does not address many of the topics adequately, or some parts of the answer are not attributed to the sources used. Or, it is of scores 1, 2. 3, or 4 quality but there are many missing and inaccurate references  or the references actually used are not acknowledged.

Good Luck!
